Humans have a tendency to become preoccupied with life’s daily “to do” lists.
Being from NYC, I know all too well how the hustle and bustle of life can actually get in the way of living.
Summer 2009, God started to expose me to many social injustices going on around the world, that I was oblivious to by being inside my Christian, NYC life bubble.
I remember feeling the shock as I thought “Why aren’t us Christians doing more about these issues? What have we become so preoccupied with? What have I become so preoccupied with?”
This gnawing restlessness began inside of me. I started searching for how God wanted me to be a solution to the issues going on around the world. I started reading challenging books (like the Irresistible Revolution), and watching documentaries.. the whisper kept getting louder and louder.
One autumn evening, I went to see a documentary called “The I Heart Revolution” by an Australian church/band called Hillsong United… everything became clear that night.
What can change this world? LOVE in ACTION
What was I doing ?LOVING
But not in the way that God has called Christians to love. I was consumed with my own issues, my own will, my own agendas, my own well being.. I was saying love.. and not doing love.
That night God knocked me into the reality of what us, followers of Christ’s teachings, should be consumed with as a daily agenda.
God’s love is powerful. It is life- transforming. It is REAL. It’s what transformed my life, and now I want to be a tool for other people’s lives to be transformed by it too.
His love ACTS.. It’s what made him leave his heavenly angelic choir of worshippers, to be born in a stable to an audience of a humble carpenter, a young girl, and barn animals. It’s what put Jesus on the cross.
I want my love to ACT.
I want to be His, very tangible, hands and feet on Earth.
“…let us not love with words or tongue…but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18
I want my daily agenda to be to love my King, and to love others the way that He loves….in action.
“Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Love is the greatest…
